About Fitsafe Technologies

Fitsafe Technologies was established when the retail Petroleum Industry asked for a safer way of retrofitting new entries to existing underground storage tanks.

In response to this request Fitsafe Technologies developed a World’s Best Practice, which is a safer, more efficient and cost effective methodology of retro-fitting additional entries into existing, in-service, underground petroleum storage tanks.

In 8 short months after the initial consultation, the Fitsafe Technologies Retrofit Fitting and Tank Broaching Technology and processes has been successfully developed, tested and proven.

Fitsafe Technologies gained approvals for beta testing of the system in Australia after a successful Australian pattern application followed by industry and oil company approvals.

A  World-Wide Patent Application was then sort and consequently approved for the Broaching Technology, Processes and application.

The first commercial applications were undertaken shortly thereafter, with the result that all the major Petroleum Companies based in Australia had reviewed and approved the process for retro-fitting additional entries to their existing underground storage tanks in Australia and New Zealand.

By late 2009 more than 2000 additional entries have been installed in underground storage tanks across the width and breadth of Australia and New Zealand without a single safety incident. All with a minimum of fuss and no storage tank down time, while significantly reducing the total project run time and associated costs of major civil works and reimbursement of regret cost incorporated with site trading disruption.

A variety of fuel storage tank retrofit applications have been completed, which include retro-fitting Automated Tank Gauging (ATG), Stage 1 and Stage 2 Vapour Recovery (VR) and tank cleaning and or inspection points being successfully installed utilising the Fitsafe Tank Retrofitting Process.

The unprecedented safety record and commercial success of the Fitsafe Technologies Process in Australia and New Zealand resulted in worldwide approval of the process from major oil engineering departments and project management organisations.

Fitsafe Technologies having a philosophy of research, development and continual improvement and are always looking for better ways to improve site safety, working methods, while providing project efficiencies that safely deliver cost effective solutions for all industry participants.
