Tank Broaching

Fire TriangleThe Fitsafe Technologies Retrofitting Process is safe & economical

The patented tank broaching technology and retrofit process totally eliminates oxygen and heat from the fully monitored tank broaching process.

This world’s best practice is the only tank drilling system available to the Petroleum Industry that removes two of the three sides of the "fire triangle" providing a safe working environment at all times during the broaching process. The broaching process is procedural and checklist based and is coupled with a unique safety based technology that carries out the broaching in a fully inert, self contained and monitored atmosphere.

The Fitsafe Technologies Retrofitting Process consists of two separate and distinct procedural and checklist driven phases

Step 1 - The Retrofit Fitting Process
The site civil works are completed in conjunction with the application of the Fitsafe retrofit fitting to the live and in service underground storage tank(s).

Step 2 - The Tank Broaching Process
After civil works have been completed, the Fitsafe Tank Broaching Technology broaches a hole in to the live and in service tank via the retrofitted Fitsafe fitting and access riser.

Benefits of the Fitsafe Technologies Process are:

Safety

The Fitsafe patented technology, procedures and checklists, provides a safe, auditable and traceable process that ensures operator and site safety at all times. This is a proven process with no site safety incidents from 2000 plus installations to date.

Economical

The Fitsafe process provides additional tank entries at a significantly reduced cost to established methods of fuel system environmental upgrades.

Downtime

Site disruption is minimized and no tank shutdown is required during the civil and retrofitting processes removing a significant contribution of "regret cost" to projects, thus increasing the project manager’s ability to do more with less.

Site Time

Required contractor time on site and activity is reduced and the actual civil works area is reduced to a 1.5m x 1.5m area over the tank, costly and inefficient  "chasing of concrete" to find additional entries is eliminated forever.

Traceable System

The Procedurally driven process and associated step by step checklists ensure an auditable and traceable system that provides industry and project managers with a measurable safety record and completion result for every installation.

Retrofit Training

Fitsafe provides training for contractors installing retrofit kits to ensure compliance with procedure, quality and fitting longevity.

Broaching Accreditation Fitsafe promote the licensing of a dedicated broaching company with their nominated employees completing the broaching training program and assessed before being accredited. All accredited operators are provided with a card that includes a photo, name and accreditation date and number and must be carried at all times when involved in the Fitsafe broaching process. Accreditation remains valid for 12 months, after which, a review of re-accreditation is carried out by desk top audit and report detailing any re-training requirements and accreditation validation. A register of accredited personnel is available to industry at any time.
